Calnin Design Studio is based in Madison, Wisconsin  and founded by Katie Calnin, interior designer and creative director. 

Katie specializes in designing laid back luxury homes while promoting a lifestyle that relishes in both the meaningful and everyday moments. From full to partial home renovations and new construction, our goal is to design custom interiors that tell your story and stand out from the rest. We design spaces that invite connections with those most important and inspire you to slow your pace and create a life full of ease and authenticity.

Here at Calnin Design Studio, we take an active role in every phase of our projects, from initial concept to the final implementation. Our dedicated and talented team collaborates closely with architects and builders to manage every facet of the design journey. This includes designing and choosing architectural features, finishes, materials, cabinetry, as well as selecting and overseeing the furnishings, fabrics, accessories, and personalized details crafted specifically for your needs. Additionally, we also manage the procurement and installation of furnishings and decor for a turnkey experience. Our goal is to transform your home by living and breathing the details that enhance its functionality, beauty, and individuality.

Our team has created a unique system to guide you through six distinct phases of design, while ensuring that all decisions are made with intention and that the project is kept on track. There are hundreds, if not thousands of decisions that need to be made and organized for optimal communication between all trades. Our process allows for room to breath so you can make an assured decision in your investment and enjoy the journey along the way. 

We will be with you at every stage of your project as it evolves from a concept to reality, staying in communication with your builder as a team, while ensuring that the design intent is preserved all the way to the final installation. Once construction is complete and the final punch list is resolved, we provide white glove delivery service taking care of every detail so that you can focus on life and family.

Our design process begins with you at the helm as we fully research what your desires and daily life are like. We take a deep dive into your daily patterns, routines, and future goals so that we have a complete understanding of how you want to live in your home. From there, we explore design styles through imagery that are cohesive with the architecture of your home and your values. We love to add our spin and signature style, inspired by a classic European-Modern home.
