We currently live in a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom house. It’s not big by any means and for the three of us (myself, Gil, and baby Max), the one bathroom definitely feels small at times. After searching for housing in the Madison area, most homes need a full gut out and renovation but still cost the same as building new, so we’ve decided that the only way we’ll get the look and design that we want, we will need to build. Which means until the perfect lot comes around, we are comfortable and cozy in our 1 bathroom house.
When it comes to bathrooms and kitchens, I continue to design for the future and seek inspiration daily (I may have an obsession). For bathrooms specifically, we spend a lot of time in this room, so it should get as much attention as the kitchen and main living areas, don’t you think? Here are my must haves for the future bathroom that I will bring to life for our family…and at least 2 more so we’re not so cramped. #luxuryproblems
Let’s begin with inspiration I pulled from my Pinterest feed.
Because I love so many styles, it’s hard to just stay in one lane. I typically use 2-3 styles to keep things interesting. So I am giving my ADHD creative brain permission to mesh together Traditional + Mid-Century + Spanish +West-coast all into one style. I haven’t thought of a name yet to stamp my signature mesh of designs with, so if you think of a good one, I’d love to trademark it ha.
Here’s my interpretation for how I would design and build our main bathroom.
Creamy white color palette.
Spanish style flooring.
Gold plumbing and accessories.
Baskets for storage.
Custom designed vanity with soft close drawers and LOTS of storage.
Hooks because they are less obtrusive and very practical for hanging towels.
Free standing tub, even though I don’t take baths…sometimes I do! And they look gorgeous and luxurious.
Abundant light for the many plants I will have. I feel like house plants make the bathroom feel like a spa retreat located somewhere in the jungle.
I hope you enjoyed this collage of my must haves and start to feel inspired to make your own list.
Cheers for now!
Katie
